Leaves:
A bushy, twiggy deciduous shrub with simple, palmate, 3-lobed leaves. The upper surfaces of the leaves are dark green, whereas beneath they are light green. The leaves are alternate along the stems. Similar to Red Currant (Ribes rubrum) but with smaller leaves and more deeply toothed. The branches can sometimes be spiny. Compressed, light green or whitish buds.
