Purple flowers which appear in whorled spikes at the top of the plant. The upper lip of the flower is hooded and the lower lip is 3-lobed.
Fruit:
The fruit is a capsule.
Leaves:
The oval, toothed leaves are in opposite pairs up the stem. The leaves are pale underneath. The stem is erect and 4-angled. Can be found on sand dunes in north Cornwall.
